Blush Dupe? Too Faced v. Makeup Revolution

I absolutely love scouring the internet for dupes. Some might say it’s copying, I say it’s a sincere form of flattery But, in today’s over hyped (over priced) makeup industry, it’s nice to save moola on similar, or near-identical products. The two I’m comparing today, are the adorable heart shaped blushes from Too Faced and Makeup Revolution. Are they exact dupes? Let’s find out!

TOO FACED SWEETHEARTS IN PEACH BEACH ($30 – 0.19 OZ)

The Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush retails for $30 at ULTA and Sephora. The baked formula is vegan, paraben free, and promises to work on all skin tones. It features three shades, that are meant to give the skin a younger, brighter, healthier look. The pigmentation is easily buildable, and the formula blends effortlessly.

Referred to as the little black dress of blushes, this adorable blush leaves behind the perfect flush with a hint of sheen. It’s not quite enough glow to be used as a stand alone highlighter, but it definitely has a luminous finish. Too Faced states you can either swirl each shade together, or use them separately. I find using them all together is easiest, as the shades aren’t that big, so a small fan brush would be needed for individual use. It’s not impossible, but it would certainly be a challenge.

MAKEUP REVOLUTION BLUSHING HEARTS IN PEACHY PINK KISSES ($7 – 0.35 OZ)

If you blink fast enough, you won’t be able to tell these blushes apart. Looking nearly identical in a heart shaped box, complete with a shimmery stripped pattern, the Makeup Revolution blush offers an affordable alternative to Too Faced. The triple baked formula promises to enhance cheekbones, with a hint of shimmer. It comes with nearly double the product, and retails for less than ten bucks!

The formula is really great for a product at this price point. It’s creamy, easy to blend, and not at all chalky or powdery. It’s luminous, without obvious chunky glitter, and a little goes a long way on the cheeks. For added glow, you can also pop this on your cupids bow, inner corner, or decollate.

THE VERDICT…

Despite the similarities in packaging, these two products are actually quite different. While the Too Faced product is truly a blush, the Makeup Revolution powder is better used as a highlighter. It’s luminous, glowy, and way to light even for my pale skin to be a blush. The shade is absolutely stunning, but it’s definitely not a true blusher.

Both products are beautiful, but Makeup Revolution isn’t quite a dupe. It looks the same, it’s packaged the same, but it performs totally different on the cheeks. I actually love to pair these together. Too Faced on my cheeks, and Makeup Revolution on my cheekbones. The combo is peachy, luminous, and lit-from-within. Of course buying both won’t save you money, but they are different products, so it’s not like buying two of the same.
